An ultra, ultra rare original first UK theatrical release poster for Wild Style, the seminal 1983 B-boy /Hip-Hop/Graffiti classic Wild Style, regarded as the first in its genre. Directed and produced by Charlie Ahearn and stars Fab Five Freddy, Lee Quiñones, Lady Pink, The Rock Steady Crew, The Cold Crush Brothers, Queen Lisa Lee of Zulu Nation, and Zephyr. It's without doubt one of the most culturally influential hip-hop movies of its time! It's full of graffiti, breakdancing, freestyle MC'ing and rare footage of one of the Godfathers of hip-hop, Grandmaster Flash, pulling off an awesome scratch-mix set on a pair of ancient turntables. The approach to creatng the film was a hybrid of a narrative musical and documentary, having the real hip-hop pioneers play themselves in a loosely scripted story shot entirely in the South Bronx, the Lower East Side and MTA subway yards.
This British quad measures 73 x 97 cm, but it has not been trimmed. It was released at the ICA (Instistute of Contemporary Arts) in London. We have never had one of these posters in all our years collecting. It's a real treasure!

Good condition. The poster was previously folded, but has been laid flat for a long time so will be shiped rolled in a tube. There are surface scuffs throughout and some minor wear in the fold lines. There are a few crease/ folds in the top left side and one paper crease/scuff mark through the title 'Wild". There is also a very light diagonal fold line across the bottom half of the poster.
